Grievance Committee

This committee is made up of a small group of members (3-7) that have completed at least two (2) of the C.A.R. Professional Standards courses and have been members of good standing with the Association and have been active in real estate for at least two (2) years.

Once a complaint comes to the attention of the Association, it gets passed to the Grievance Committee for evaluation. The committee's job is to: review the complaint to ensure it is complete, with sufficient information to justify the complaint; that the correct Articles have been sited; that the violation has indeed taken place; that the complaint has been filed in the proper amount of time.

The committee does NOT investigate the complaint beyond certification (if necessary) of the information that has been provided. The committee then determines whether or not the complaint warrants further consideration by the Professional Standards hearing panel. The committee may, upon its own motion, and must upon the request of the Board of Directors, investigate the action of any member when there is a reason to believe that the members conduct may be subject to disciplinary action. In such case, the Grievance Committee shall act as the complainant. The chair of this committee attends the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors, but is not entitled to vote.
